Beautiful, apropos psychedelic poster by the renowned Bay Area artist, Robert Fried. Note, Fried used the same black cat for two concert posters in 1967, Buffalo Springfield's show on October 6, 1967, and Canned Heat's show on November 3, 1967. The Canned Heat poster is composed very similarly to Butterfly Woman.

According to Wolfgang's, "[t]rained as a commercial artist, Bob Fried came to San Francisco from New York to study at the Art Institute and work as a free-lance designer. In 1966, he began to look at the rock posters that were appearing throughout the Bay Area. Encouraged by Victor Moscoso, whom he met at the Art Institute, he began to create his own posters. He wanted to keep them simple to convey feelings of dimensional space, similar to an acid trip. Fried attempted to convey the feeling of the plasticity of time that was his experience on LSD."

We've also got some other great decorative arts from the Summer of Love, including a huge Jimi Hendrix poster printed by Dream Works, art by well-known, contemporary artist Larry Smart, 1968. This is magnificent. Butterfly Woman and Jimi are straight-up contemporary Haight-Ashbury stuff. We've also got a '68 Janis Joplin Filmore poster, and Bob Fried's classic "High Mass" blacklight poster.
