It works perfectly! Not too many Yonezawa Talking Police Cars still floating around in their original box. This is a little bit later in their series, 70s versus 60s, (hence we're not asking several thousand for it) but still a great, rare piece. It's basically unused as far as we can tell, and, other than discoloration of the stickers a bit, looks brand new, nice and shiny, no play scars. The talking function works great with a C battery. Push the dome light in to hear:
"Bank robbery reported at the national bank. Proceed there immediately. This is highway patrol 469."
"Give yourself up. You are completely surrounded by policemen. AIf you throw down your guns and come out with your hands up, we guarantee you won't be harmed."
You'd think Yonezawa would have designed it so the dome lights up as well, but they did not, it just talks. One neat feature tho is that you can adjust the speed at which it talks with the orange slider in the battery compartment, so you can have it sound like it's either Barry White on the slow end, or a helium huffer on the fast end. Or just normal in the middle.
The box shows some discoloration from age, but it's not brittle, flaking, or anything like that. The cello window separated from the box top on one end (still well adhered on the other), so we reinforced it internally with some clear tape (which you can't see from the top). We straightened out a couple of areas that had some crumples with a small bit of clear tape as well. We've factored all that in the pricing.
